Literature Text

Oh stranger, stay a stranger
No…Stranger, stay a while
Walk away, my stranger
Stranger, stay and smile

I do not know you, stranger
Only that your hands
Are worn to bloody blisters
Where streams of music ran

Swift between your fingers
From the tortured strings
That you shed your skin for
Teaching them to sing

Stranger, stay a stranger
Do not let me find
That your tunes are soulless
And your heart is blind

That you might be callous
Petty and unkind
That your wounded hands deceive
Do not let me find…

Oh stranger, stay a stranger
Stranger, walk away
Let me dream your strings might sing
Sincerely when you play.
love of strangers, distrust of musicians, history of disappointment. fill in the blanks.

This is wonderful and so very true, well, at least for me since I can vividly relate to this feeling.
I like the repetition, it makes the rhythm seem very in tune with the meaning of the poem. I enjoyed reading this. :)
